The Middle Years School is located in the Main building. The Head of Middle Years School has overall responsibility for all aspects of the MYS and is assisted by the MYP Coordinator/Deputy Head (Academic), Deputy Head (Pastoral), Heads of Department and a team of Grade Leaders who oversee the academic and pastoral aspects of student life.
Each student is a member of a Tutor Group, and of a House, through which the pastoral programme and the House activities programme are implemented.
In Grades 6–10, most students study bilingually meeting the expectations of the Ministry of Education syllabuses which are extended and developed where appropriate using the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in which all students take courses in Arabic, English, Maths, Science, the Arts, PE, Technology and Social Studies. Religion (Islam or Christianity) is an integral part of the curriculum. French is optional only for grades 9 and 10.
Activities

All Middle Years School students are encouraged to participate in the wide variety of cultural, sporting and service activities.
The cultural and sporting activities programme in the MYS is based on the House System.
All students are also able to take part in creative and service activities. During their years in the Middle School students are eligible for the Sarvath El Hassan Award which requires successful completion of a number of different types of activity.
