ABS International Section
We are pleased to announce the opening of an International Section at ABS for students in grades 7- 12.
ABS is a Jordanian national school, however, from August 2010 we will admit a small number of students into an international section. These students, though they may not initially have the necessary language skills in Arabic to cope with an ABS bilingual academic programme, should be prepared to immerse themselves in a bilingual environment and show willingness to learn both spoken and written Arabic.
The aims and objectives of this international section are to provide:
1. An ABS education to those students who do not have the required level in Arabic to cope with our bilingual programme.
2. Intensive Arabic courses to the students in the international section in order for them to reach a high level of spoken and written fluency in Arabic. An education that is consistent with the school’s mission statement and philosophy.
The international section at ABS targets the following type of students:
1. The children of expatriate parents living in Jordan on a temporary basis who wish their children to have an ABS education.
2. The children of non-Jordanian families living in Jordan who do not have the necessary language ability in Arabic to cope with our bilingual programme.
3. The children of Jordanian families who do not have the level of Arabic to cope with our bilingual programme. These children will have been educated outside of Jordan or have been attending non-Arabic speaking schools.
Entrance requirements for the International Section:
All students who wish to enter the International Section at ABS must abide by the following conditions:
· A special entrance exam to test their language levels in Arabic and English as well as entrance exams to test their overall academic level as required by the ABS Admissions Policy.
